The thought of spray-painting the lantern red seemed rather daunting to me, but Brie gives easy directions for removing the glass, which would make spray-painting quite simple. Summer would be a great time to paint these lanterns, because it could be easily done outdoors.
Brie also suggests these lanterns could be painted in red, white, or blue for patriotic summer decor. And wouldn't they also be pretty in beachy colors?
This is a fantastic idea and one that I hope to use in my own decorating (or, as Brie suggests, in gifting) this Christmas!
Love this! I need to be on the lookout for lanterns... Wonder if the dollar store will have some?
ReplyDeleteThey just might, Lucie! I got mine at a discount store similar to Big Lots.
DeleteVery cute!
ReplyDeleteAren't they, Vicki? I would never have thought to put candy in a lantern. Really thinking outside the box!
DeleteOh, the love the pic you posted. I have a small lantern that I never know what to do with. Now I do.
ReplyDeleteHave fun with this idea, Carrie! And be sure and post a photo of your finished lantern!
DeleteI am kicking myself for putting a set of IKEA lanterns in a garage sale, thinking I would never use them. I hope I can find them again. There are so many decorating ideas with lanterns - so pretty.
ReplyDeleteOh, I hope you can find them again too, Pamela. Maybe check at garage or yard sales this summer! I have wanted lanterns for a long time and I too, am kicking myself that I didn't buy more than one when I found them at such a great price!
