A fun-looking Christmas cookie for this year's cookie trays!

Sure, we all have our old favorite Christmas cookies.  My family certainly does!  (In the photo above, you see Secret Spice Cookies, Sacher Torte Cookies and Whipped Shortbread, all in the process of being prepared for use as kitchen gifts.)

But every year I try to  make a point of trying at least one new recipe for the cookie trays.  I recently spied these Pistachio-Cherry Meltaway Cookies and I am thinking they may be one I will try this year.  The cookies, from Jamielyn at I Heart Naptime, look so pretty and festive with the red bits of cherry in them.  I like that they are meltaway cookies, which means no eggs to alter the attractive green color from the pistachio pudding mix.

Jamielyn gives a few suggestions for dressing up the cookies even further, and one of them I really like the idea of: dipping half of each cookie in white chocolate.

It's sort of the same idea as the dipped cherry cookies below, from Taste of Home:

It really is fun seeking out new Christmas cookies in July.  Just pay attention to where you found the recipes so that you can find them again come the Christmas season!

  1. Pistachio cookies must be sooo good! I do less and less baking each year as people are starting to be more health conscious and usually just eat 1 !! pffff ;)

  2. What is wrong with these people?! We still do a lot of Christmas baking in this house and we have yet to have anyone refuse cookies! :)
