A Christmas table runner I made from my fabric stash |

Matching placemats -- these are both fun July projects |
It's always so nice to have pretty table settings for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day dinners. If you plan ahead, it's a lot easier to make this happen. You can sew table runners and place mats any time, but July is a great time because fabric stores often have Christmas in July sales.
This link from
A Spoonful of Sugar has some great ideas for
Christmas place card ideas in particular, although there are other table setting ideas as well.
These treat-filled place cards are just one idea
and look like so much fun. You could get the components all ready in an envelope or box and be ready to fill the treat bags as soon as the Christmas candy shows up in stores!

I love beautiful settings but somehow that is always the least important thing here during the holidays... so it oftens get overlooked. I should PLAN something beautiful to be sure it happens
ReplyDeleteI hear you, Luludou! I have the runner and placemats pictured here, and use them at least once during the season, and I try to have a nice Christmas centerpiece in place, but things like napkins, napkin rings and place cards are often afterthoughts. Like you, I'd like to do better with that this year! Another great reason for Christmas in July, right?
ReplyDeleteI love the treat-filled place cards! I really enjoy setting a festive table - I'm going to make that my goal this year, to set the table differently as often as I can. I have so many decorations, I'm sure I can manage to pull a few from somewhere else in the house to use on the table. I'll try to post a weekly wrap-up.
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed the place cards, Pamela! I hope to make some of those ... so festive and unusual. Will look forward to reading your posts on your Christmas table decor!
ReplyDeleteI also love the place cards!!! Placemat is pretty and could be used as a single decoration with item on it.
