Handmade gift idea: wood coasters with photo transfer

Photo and craft by Jenn at
Time for a craft!  These photo coasters are the work of the talented Jenn Lifford at Clean & Scentsible.  You'll find the project here on her blog: Vintage Wood Photo Coasters
.
This would be a fun project to make this summer with some special photos of your family's summer activities.    Jenn purchased the wood pieces at Michaels, but she suggests that thicker actual wood slices would also be nice for the project.

Another important point is that the photos for these coasters MUST be printed on a laser jet printer.  Photos printed on an ink jet printer will not work.  Since most home printers are ink jet, you will need to get your photos printed at an office supply place (Jenn used Staples) or a print shop.

A set of these would be a nice gift for grandparents, of course, or -- if the fun photos were taken by the grandparents, the coasters would be a gift kids could give to mom and dad.  Photos of school or Sunday School activities, transferred to coasters,  might be a nice teacher gift.  If you used scenic photos rather than shots of people, the coasters would be good gifts for just about anyone.  I think these coasters would also be so nice to keep on hand at a summer cottage or lake house.

Have fun with this idea!  I just might try making some of these if I can carve out the time.
