A Christmas in July surprise!

Surprises are part of Christmas, and so it's a delight to receive a Christmas in July surprise as I did last week!  Even though Gooseberry Patch always lets me know in advance when they are going to publish one of my recipes, and even tells me the month when my free cookbook will arrive,

I almost always forget about it.

Such was the case when A Very Merry Christmas arrived in my mailbox in early July.  What a nice surprise!

I am not doing a review of the cookbook at this time, as I have not yet looked all the way through it or tried any of the recipes from it.  But I must say I have already seen some new-to-me recipes that I want to try.  Below are a few of the pages that I snapped photos of:

This gives you an idea as to some of the sections in this cookbook.

As an aside to this post, I'd like to mention again that since this is my 10th year of doing Christmas in July,  I thought it would be fun to do a bit of a give*away each week.

As many readers know, I have loads of vintage Christmas ephemera.

My thought is to put together several ephemera packs or small assortments of paper treasures and then to give away one of them to a blog reader each week of July.  So for this week, if you are interested leave the word "red" somewhere in your comment on this post.  Drawing for the prize will be on Friday July 16th and I'll announce the winner on Saturday the 17th.

  2. I have one cookbook from Gooseberry Patch. I really do enjoy their cookbooks. I will look for this one at Cracker Barrel. Sometimes they offer them for sale there. What a lovely treat for Christmas in July. Red is my favorite color even when it is not Christmas!!

  4. Growing up with many siblings--Christmas was a time of year that we all looked forward to. My mother (who recently passed) looked fabulous in red. In fact the picture that was chosen for her cards were of her dressed in red at a gala at Christmas.

Congratulations on the recipes being part of a book that is "red" by meany.

  5. I am have just recently looked at Gooseberry books I got from the library last year. The are so full of ideas.
I am curious to know if you will share that published recipe on your blog.
I like using red in my Christmas decorating. It is so pretty against the green of the tree.

    1. Hi Les! Good to see you here!😁

Yes, it's open to readers outside the U.S. The items are small and lightweight enough to mail inside of a card with a global stamp.
